The fragrance of Spring

The fragrance of the Lilacs in bloom,
On a sunny spring day,
With tulips and pansies,
In colorful display...
The splendor of the Dogwoods,
And Crab Apple trees
Paint pictures so appealing,
Even the birds sing their praise.
Weeping Willows beside a quiet brook,
Dangle lacy green tassels to earth,
Butterflies hover close by,
The whole land is given new birth.
What a great adventure,
Spring can give to you and me,
When we stop rushing around
Long enough to look and see.
What man can make a butterfly?
Or put a rainbow in the sky?
Or make an eagle soar,
Above the earth so high?
Who can order the wind to blow,
Or tell the clouds to disappear?
Or put the fragrance in the Lilacs?
Or hang stars in the Hemisphere?
Only God, the Master of the Universe,
Can create such delightful gifts,
That puts a new song on thankful hearts,
And give lonely hearts a lift!
