READING POEMS

Read the poem with an open heart
It’ll be a compliment, a good start
Don’t reject it before you read it all
Keep in mind: the author has a call,
Maybe he believs in a good cause
So, open your soul, then have a pause
And try to catch what he meant
From a situation or from an event
Don’t rush to conclusions, he has a view
Formed in school, home or in a pew
Surely you’ll learn something from it
You’ll be willing the author to meet
Read the poem with an open heart
It’ll be a compliment, a good start.
